Sad, pathetic, and depressing

How bad is it that the American Idol winner last night received 63 million votes, more than any president in US history. We've reached a low point here.

Thu May 25, 2006 6:24 pm

whoops, my bad. Both contestants combined got 63 millions.vote.
Well now, I feel so much better. :(

Thu May 25, 2006 6:47 pm

Still pathetic either way.

Yeah most people are total morons, some people in England dont even know who Tony Blair is, thats fucked up. For people voted for Big Brother last year than in the genreal election, its more people care about nobodys who do nothing but live in house for 13 weeks than the most important people in the country.

Sad? Pop music in general.

Pathetic? The millions that think these boy bands and Britney Spears actually are talanted.

Depressing? The billions spent to see these fuck sticks live in concert, on their cd's, posters, calenders, folders, notepads, books, DVD's, fan clubs, etc. That, and the fact that my shemale girlfriend's penis is bigger than mine.

Want some real music? Bruce Springsteen!

Maybe they need to make the next election a TV spectacle like American Idol is.

It is a devastating statistic...but, you can vote by cell phone which puts in a huge convenience factor, you don't have to be 18 to vote, and well...that's all i have to say about that.

Yeah i blame it for not getting into music until a year ago, a few relics from the awful 90's remain, nothing but stupid boy bands and girls bands who all just sing to recorded music, not giving credit to the hoghly skilled musicians, who deserve the fame and money alot more. The new millenium has brought the rise of Indie, where musicians performing on stage, rather than 5 people standing there singing and crowds just standing there, with Indie the band are entertaining, music is played loud, dynamically and enerjectically. With crowds pogoing, moshing and really having a good time.

Another [problem with the 90's groups is they were all the same, Indie is about being different and individual, there is a general style but each band does it differently. e.g. The Automatic has a keyboard player who also sings in a really high voice, screaming his head off, yet still singing, often repeating a line by the lead singer just after the lead has sung it, or in the background. The Kaiser chiefs often do loud WWWHHHHHOOOAAAAAA and stuff in there songs.
Whats more though, is that they are not so strongly idealised by their fans as pop singers, yeah u get hardcore fans, but they have life outside a band, the band arent their entire life.

Maybe they need to make the next election a TV spectacle like American Idol is.

That would intersing in England, Tony Blair used to be a lead singer and guitarist in a band, David Cameroon looks like thelead singer of The Futureheads, although theres still Mingz Cambell, sit on his knee and he'll tell about the war.
PLus David Cameroon was voted the 97th most attractive man in the world recently:freak: :tard:

sad indeed

Now if they were to put these boy band and pop idolers on a desert island with weapons and told them to kill each other ala battle royale...That I'd pay to see.

Thu May 25, 2006 7:39 pm

Whoaaaaa.....

Saw the title of this tread and though someone had pictures of =enders= 2 man birthday party, from the other night.... on a less serious note, their is a new movie here in the states with Hugh Grant? anyways it almost seems to be a mash up of presidential election and any 'idol' phone in format.... anyways i doubt it will be anything good, but the idea is out there that people will 'call-in' their next choice for the president.

Thu May 25, 2006 7:40 pm

I didn't read anyone's post, so sry if someone already said these....

1. It's 20x easier to vote by phone.
2. You don't have to be 18 to vote.
3. You can vote as many times as you want.
4. Anyone who knows either idle personally was probably on 3 phonelines and speedial for the entire time it was open casting votes.

Unfortunately i doubt they would kill each other, they probably have a rather poofy slappy fight.

The difference between a political election and an AI election is that in the AI election, you can vote multiple times. You can only vote multiple times in Chicago in a political election, sometimes even after you're dead.

The 63 million number is meaningless...it's not 63 million people, it's 21 million people voting an average of 3x each at $0.10 a pop.
