Computer down... No Gaming :(

Tue Aug 15, 2006 12:52 pm

For those of you playing BF2 on monday evening, you might have seen me on there for a little bit, but because I was having connection problems I just quit for the day. I also quit because the last component that I needed to do my upgrade to my computer came in. Thats where I have my problem. I am having great difficulties trying to get a new Install of WinXP to install properly on my RAID0 that I have set up. While in the windows setup I load my RAID drivers via the F6 route, and I then partition the RAID0 so that it is usable, but when I tell it to use that partition, and when I tell it to use the RAID I expect it to take me to the screen to format the drive to NTFS, but it tells me that it is an invalid drive and that I need to select another one. I was about ready to punch the machine after many failed attempts to get it to go. Anyway I am reading around to many help forums and have a few things I can try, but if anyone knows a trick, because my RAID0 is 2 Western Digital 250GB SATA 16mb cache drives.

Thats my problem and I hope to get through it so I can get back to gaming.

New System Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (2x1mb L2's)
2 GB Crucial DDR400
Asus A8N-E motherboard (nforce4)
XFX Nvidia 7900GT
2 - WD 250GB SATA HD's (RAID0)
1 - Maxtor 250GB SATA HD (data storage)
2 - Power Supplies (Enermax & Thermaltake)
Creative X-Fi sound card
CM Stacker Tower Case
Floppy, and DVD-RW
and also plenty of fans

Well I finally get it up and running. Oddly enough the drivers that came on the CD were just fine. I simply needed to unplug the extra data storage drive. That extra drive I guess was freaking out Windows, because both the RAID and the extra drive both had boot sectors on them, and therefore it would confuse Windows when I tried to tell it to only use the RAID. I hate it when it turns out to be something rather simple. So I should be back to gaming soon. Now I just gotta get all the software loaded back up..

C yall real soon
