Are you sure your facts are right? If that were so then if you were to buy things sold in canada usually its cheaper in american money. I wonder if that is how it costs to make the US dollar, because we have that problem with the penny right now. The US penny costs about 1.25 - 1.5 cents to produce a penny therefore we are losing money everytime they make more pennies... not sure how they come up with those numbers but I think thats what they were last I read.

no thats backwards:
1 USD = 1.10930 CAD
1 CAD = 0.901469 USD
check out http://www.xe.com/

Actually the highest it's ever been is 1USD = 0.94 CAD back in '57

When I was young, most US stores would take canadian money at par :)

And no, before any smacker open his mouth, it wasn't back in '57

the real story there: the cost of a house only slightly more than 3 times the average salary. Back then a guy with a HS education could afford a house, a car, and a stay-at-home wife.

Up until about 5 years ago or so, the duty free liquor stores in the US used to take canadian money at par too. Ah those were the days.

my bad, its not equal to, but .90 some on cents on the dollar.

100 canadian is about 90/91 dollars american.

my bad, my bad.

*hangs head in shame*

Yeah Chacal we all know you were old even in 1957, you'll need to go back quite a few more years to when you were young....

Um,

Right now, 1 U.S. dollar = 1.04369971 Canadian dollars, which isn't much different that your first post (1 year ago) of 1 USD = 1.10930 CAD.

I guess I'm not getting your point.

No, but real close!!! lmao Although I shouldn't say to much either. I do remmember gas being 35 cents a gallon back in 1975 and in the early 60's and late 50's bread was 5 cents and cigs were 25 cents a pack. And we call this progress?
