The Departed

My opinion GREAT Movie

almost at 3 hours, dragged at spots, they compare it to Martin's GoodFellows, I thought it wasn't even close, but I just saw this one time, seen G.F. about 45 times.

Plot was really well written and the direction was amazing, I don't agree with that Dork from Titanic to be the next Bobby D,

No one can ever be Bobby D, Jack Nicolson was his great self, always animated, and knows when to bring it home

Any Comments, or else saw this???

Saw it Friday night, one of my top 3 movies. Also helped that Matt Damon is my favorite actor, and DiCaprio is not far behind. The acting, plot, everything about the movie was great.

I still haven't forgiven Martin Scorsese for Gangs of New York. Man the movie was retarded. You don't get to the climax of the film and then decide you want to tell another atory instead. That was just inept film-making.

More importantly, they also are comparing it to his second best movie, Mean Streets.

Departed ruled. Funny, smart, fast-paced. Made you think. The cast was brilliant, with great performances from everyone...even Alec Baldwin (almost unrecognizable from earlier movies) nails it as the motor-mouthed Police Chief.

"I need a cigarrete, you need a cigarrette? You need a smoke, don't smoke? What are ya one of them health freaks, go fuck yourself."

Wahlberg was awesome in that movie.

?

Alec is usually great. Check out the movies The Cooler and Outside Providence.

I like Alec Baldwin, I'm just saying he looks so different than how he used to look.

Take a look at him in Hunt for Red October.

I've always considered him to be a great actor, just sometimes the roles he chooses aren't that noteworthy.

...and Mark Wahlberg is a great actor. I'd be tempted to say he's included in a small crop of outstanding actors, but I think he needs more gutty roles (Departed helps). He was great in 3 Kings.

Wahlberg always surprises me when I watch him. I always think of that punk-ass persona he perpetuated when he was big on MTV with his pants half-way down his ass, but he's come a long way.

His brother Donnie is a much better actor. He was awesome as Carwood Lipton in Band of Brothers. Could hardly tell he was a wahlberg at all ;)

Donnie was good in Band of Brothers, but Saw II sucked the puss from every open wound I've ever suffered.

I have no interest in wither of those films. Lowest common denominator film making if you ask me.

This film was pretty good. It helps that they used Boston as a backdrop although the stuff they used doesn't match what they said it was. I guess that doesn't matter much though.

Most of the accents were pretty authentic. I thought it was very Terantino-ish with the ending there.. In many ways (Especially near the end) it reminded me of Reservoir Dogs.
