I think just about everybody agrees it is not Jesus's tomb:

It's yet another fictional account from the Discovery Channel designed to improve ratings.
Nothing to see here..

I agree Sonar, even though you used FoxNews as the source. Apparently these crypts have been known about for a few years but haven't been announced. Too many doubts. From possibly not translating the script correctly to the commonnes of the family name at the time period.

Get real, the son of GOD would have a more lavish resting place than that piece of shit.
Besides we all know Jesus was American.

while i find it humorous that religious 'scholars' will dismiss this 'discovery' before hearing anything.
I also find it comical that any PRO jesus movie (nativity story, passion of the christ etc..) is praised and is encouraged to be viewed by the church. (little is said about the $$ factor) 2 stories ive read about this has mentioned it as a 'ratings boost' for the Discovery channel.
That being said i read an article in the NYT and they were interviewing the men behind the DNA testing and while they said that there was 2 different sources (meaning that one could of been jesus and the other mary [not blood relations] they failed to test the DNA from the box that supposedly the son of christ. citing that they can only investigate so much. While i would like to see proof that the church is fawked... this is just a ratings ploy.

i wouldnt put too much blame on the discovery channel. they are on TV lets not forget. its thier job to entertain us with shows. this particular show and the subject matter has shown recent interest hence the documentary. i dont think the discover channel sides one way or the other.

I want to make this a bumper sticker.
If Bush is a Christian then Jesus was an American.
Yes TV is for intertaining but don't forget that it came out that America has spent Billions in propoganda in the Iraq. You know they spend money to sway popular opinions in America through the media. So what do they get out of this strory. Hmmm.

Really couldn't give a crap. The evidence he has is pretty ropey and the assumptive leaps he makes are pretty daft. But on the other hand the christians believe he got carried to heaven on a cloud after coming back from the dead...
I know which one sounds more plausible to me

I doubt like hell it's the tomb of Jesus, but I wouldn't let anything I read/see on Fox News sway me. Fox news has as much credibility as a five year old child.

Not sure what you are talking about.. i dont think the story is meant to sway one way or another.. just to find out the truth and shed light on this scientific find. If it is the tomb of jesus.. cool! if not, cool as well!
to add more controversy.. here is an additional article :

enjoy

Just the odds alone, that you find a certain person's tomb, not buried as a king or anything like that, thousands of years later.......it must be more like one out of a billion.

Wait until you see the whole show. I bet the Discovery Channel will have people that represent the views in your link.
From the link- "Pfann is even unsure that the name "Jesus" on the caskets was read correctly. He thinks it's more likely the name "Hanun." Ancient Semitic script is notoriously difficult to decipher."
He forgot to add it is hard to translate when trying to debunk god. We get it right when it proves god.

I dont think it is about money. Because this is the kind of thing that just pisses people off and then they boycott. In the end, I bet it doesn't even get shown. Advertisers will back out. Who knows? It is all silly to me. Reminds me of Geraldo Rivera and Al Capone's vault.
