At Tuesday's hearing, Mallory argued in part that witchcraft is a religion practiced by some people and, therefore, the books should be banned because reading them in school violates the constitutional separation of church and state.

"I have a dream that God will be welcomed back in our schools again," Mallory said. "I think we need him."


Which one is it lady. Do you want separation of church and state or not. Or maybe you just need a smack in the face. :blow: Man sometimes I just wanna crawl in a hole and cry because I am part of the human race.

The funny part is I bet these idiots haven't even read the book.

If they don't like potter wait till they work out what "the golden compass" is about. In the second and third part of that childrens book (which has just been made into a film) God is revealed to be an evil angel who stole the power and runs an evil authoritarian regime which the "good guys" go to war against...

That's one bombshell I can't wait to land. I haven't heard one word of complaint yet so I guess they are still waiting for their assigned member to finish reading the books. When the penny drops they are gonna go spare in the funniest bout of righteous indignation yet :P

Okay, since when is it the schools responsibility to raise children? She wants the books removed to protect her children, how about be a good parent and educate your children on right and wrong. Educate your children to know that everything they see, hear, read is not the truth, especially not books from the fiction section of the library. Teach them how to make the right choices in life. What is she going to do when they get older and have access to other things violence in movies, other books and magazines etc. What about sex, and drugs she going to get the government to protect her children from that too? Be a parent and teach your children right from wrong and quit expecting the damn government and the school to do it for you. :rant:
