In other news, Electronic Arts announced it would be releasing a free demo for its highly anticipated, graphically impressive PC shooter Crysis on September 25 – the same day Bungie's Halo 3 hits the Xbox 360. The demo will comprise the entire first level in Crysis, giving gamers a chance to experience the open-ended level design and put their PC hardware to the test.

Is it for Vista only or is it gonna be on a XP platform? DX10 too?

Sorry Charlie crysis is vista only and can use DX9 or DX10 and need a fairly powerful machine to run.

Actually it is not vista only. In fact, at the moment according to an article I read, they're still demo-ing the game on xp machines only because the video drivers for vista aren't ready yet and it isn't playable. I don't recall if they were referring to a specific manufacturer in the article or not. I'm fairly sure I read the article a week or two ago on Toms Hadware if you want to check it out.
So.. It will be able to be run on XP with DX9 and on Vista with DX10.
As far as the news about the demo being released.. Uh. Cool! I'm clearing my calendar for the next year from that date.

Well that's good news Allah. I will definitely be giving the demo a go with everything on low and hope it don't play to slow.

Well thats good. I don't plan on getting Vista anytime soon. So DX10 is out of the question. Hopefully my laptop will be able to run it.

I'd be very surprised if they come out with any games that are Vista only since many (most?) people have not moved to Vista.

Well it depends on who you are, halo 2(pc) is vista only and just another way MS is trying to force the move. As for independed companys it would be crazy to lose all that money. But it will happen sooner or later.

Yes, of course MS would have done that. 
I would be willing to bet that in a few months, after miserable Halo2 sales, they will come out with a version for XP.

I doubt that since this is MS we're talking about, besides it woundn't be in their best interest. But who knows time will tell.

Recouping money on an expensive investment is not in their best interest? I did not know that; I guess it's back to school for me.
