Only prob is your involuntary functions need a break, IE your heart at sleep beats almost half as much when u are on your daily life

so thats mean peeps will die faster and the heart attack rates will go up 10,000 x's the norm

I don't think the drug is intended to replace sleep only to combat the effects of sleep deprivation for short-term infrequent uses. For example, long distance flights, standing guard, and certain military operations. There is a strategic advantage when you can get your troops to pull a 48 hour operation with no sleep and not have them fall prey to the effects of sleep deprivation.

However, it would be interesting if they were able to develop a sleep replacement.

It would be nice on those days where you don't get enough sleep, and you're dragging ass in the afternoon. It always blows me away that I have a hard time falling asleep at night in my comfortable bed, and the next day I feel like I could curl up the hard floor and get some nice sleep.
