Who can Identify this?

Fri May 16, 2003 5:53 pm

I know what it is and where it came from. Whoever can identify it wins a prize :D

Fri May 16, 2003 5:56 pm

looks like it is from a Commodore 64 or something...what do I know though??

IS IT A OLD SCHOOL VIDEO CARD

Fri May 16, 2003 6:46 pm

Hmm, those look almost like memory chips on that thing... am I close?

Focus!!

Fri May 16, 2003 6:52 pm

It's not a video card because there is no external VGA connector. It's meant for something internal, but it certainly isn't an ISA device. VESA maybe?

I was going to guess some sort of memory expansion card (didn't memory come on expansion cards way back when?).

How about a clearer picture of it??

Do I win an all expenses paid trip to ECGN Beach, with all the sun block I can smear on my pasty-white body?

It is a very old ram expansion card, you are very right.

A+ Certification

Fri May 16, 2003 6:58 pm

Pay attention kiddies, because I'm sure some A+ Certification Class will demand that you not only know what that thing is, but how to trouble-shoot it and how to configure it.

Damn, I love certification testing!

Fri May 16, 2003 6:58 pm

ram?

Fri May 16, 2003 7:39 pm

You guys are right. It's an old 4MB card of RAM from my Compaq 386 DeskPro.

Fri May 16, 2003 7:39 pm

I got one better - it's RAM pulled specifically from a Compaq computer.

Fri May 16, 2003 7:40 pm

Damn it - you posted the answer while i was typing - i had that in there before you revealed it!!!!!

The KTC part number was reserved specifically for Compaq's computers.

:P

Fri May 16, 2003 8:58 pm

I had the right answer before Jon told me what it was but he deleted my post (I had the first post with correct answer).

Fri May 16, 2003 11:01 pm

LoL!!

That huge for 4MB of RAM?? hahaha

We can fit 1GB of RAM into something 9 times smaller than that today...Amazing isn't it....And after watching AniMatrix and realizing our dependence on machines, kind of freaky and disturbing...eek!

So what's the prize?

Fri May 16, 2003 11:57 pm

I remember a prize was involved? Money would be good but ill settle for a cheap hooker ;)

Sat May 17, 2003 2:06 am

OK two more for you . . . the first one is easy . . . Jon should have this one in no time.
