Are Jon Bon Jovi and Ritchie Sambora rock gods?

Should Jon Bon Jovi and Ritchie Sambora be considered as one of Rock's greatest duos?

Do they deserve to stand in the same Rock 'n Roll Pantheon as the Jagger/Richards, Daltrey/Townshends, or the Plant/Pages?

For as popular as they are and for as many records they have sold I'm going to have to say no. To me its like comparing two dissimilar things.

Does Bon Jovi rock? In their own way yes. But Dead Or Alive is DOA next to Rip This Joint. Living On a Prayer doesn't have one if you stack it up against the likes of a A Quick One While He's Away. And Bad Medicine is pure poison if put next to Communication Breakdown.

Whaddya think?

True, but only if you go back to the days when they were known as the Toxic Twins. Post Run DMC collaboration Aerosmith sure does blow.

Actually, you and I agree on this one. I just thought I'd give you a good-natured ribbing for bringing it up.:D

Bon Jovi could only aspire to think about considering to lick dogshit off of Led Zeppelin's boots...

I don't even think they are the best eighties hair band... IMO that would go to Guns N Roses (how the mighty have fallen), or Van Halen (so many issues, they have subscriptions...)

Don't get me wrong, they're OK. They just don't compare with the greats.

See, I don't even consider those two to be hair bands. Van Halen flat out rocks and GnR is probably the last great rock band we've seen.

I don't consider the term "hair bands" to be particularly insulting, in and of itself...

Mostly, the band in question had to have long hair and have it's heyday in the eighties (mostly)...

Def Leppard was good too... but definitely a hair band...

Anybody else used to watch "Headbanger's Ball"? That was the shit back when they used to play Living Colour's "Cult of Personality" :D

Personally though, I like the early nineties grunge stuff better than the eighties stuff. Up until about '95 or so, that stuff was the shit. AiC, Pearl Jam, STP, Nirvana and Soundgarden couldn't miss back then... Now... uhhh.... they're mostly dead or in rehab...

guns n roses is a good band but van halen is better

Metallica in the 80s was THE best. Now, they are okay at best. Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning are two of the greatest albums of all times. Even though they aren't the same band as they used to be, they actually survived all this time and are still recording.

Metallica's pretty good... Along with the two you mentioned, I also like the Black Album (Wherever I May Roam!)... but the greatest of all time is still (and probably always will be) Led Zeppelin.

Their first four albums are nothing short of awe-inspiring. And they have lots of other good stuff besides those... They've influenced just about all of the rock music since then... Including Metallica... Want proof? Listen to the opening of "Achilles' Last Stand"...
