ATTENTION: CEO / PRESIDENT
RE: NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE

Well, I am Dr.Collins Obi the Director, Nigerian Coal Corporation.I was appointed by the Late Head of State, Gen.Sani Abacha before his death. I write to seek your assistance for her Excellency Dr. Mrs.Mariam Abacha, the wife of the Late Head of State and her family. She is like a target in the battlefield surrounded by convictions. She is faced with the problems of property and account confiscation from our government.

The family has lost almost all the legacies left behind by the Late Head of State. She needs help to survive the heat of democratic government. She has been misled inadvertently by the people she believed would help her.

Our government having seized all their accounts in America and Europe, there?s some money deposited in our Local Bank by her late husband which she can not transfer out because she?s being monitored by security agents. She consulted me to use our Ministry?s account to transfer the money out.

This is why we need your assistance, with the help of the bank director who is also a friend to her husband while alive. We will transfer the money through our account to your account. The bank director has assured us of his assistance after discussing with him.

We want to know if you can receive the money into your account without any problem. The amount is fifty three million five hundred thousand United States Dollars (USD53.5M). If you can assist us by providing an account where the money will be deposited, or in the alternative, we can arrange for a suitable place where we can convey the money via diplomatic means for you to go there and claim the consignment.

Her Excellency will be glad to welcome you and this will be a top-secret transaction. She offers USD3M for yourassistance. The bank director has kept the account secret all this while from been seized by the government.

Please consider the plight of this woman and signify your interest and willingness to assist her by sending me a mail to this email immediately.

Her Excellency is loosing everything to our government all because her husband is dead. Her son Mohammed Abacha has been accused for stealing USD1.8b. BBC interviewed him over that.

Note: We got your contact from America/Nigeria Chamber of Commerce and after going through your profile, we decided to contact you. Please we need your quick response to know the next thing to do.

Best Regards and God bless.

Play with them. It's funny. My friend continued talking to one of these people for a week or two for the hell of it. Some of the emails were pretty funny.

I bet, lmao.

Be careful with that shit guys. Nigerians are big time into check fraud. I would wonder where they got you from and keep an eye on your account(s). Especially as to wether or not you have new accounts you don't know about yet.

I currently work in the check industry and one of our big flags is all about Nigerians commiting check fraud. There was a group busted in Minnesota a year ago who ran up over 5 million in check fraud before getting caught.

Nothing quite as much fun as checking your credit report and finding you owe several thousand dollars you never actually spent.

Yeah it's a yahoo account that is basically used for junk. I have no idea how they get my email address. I've received maybe a half a dozen of these over the last year.

Wed Apr 07, 2004 11:04 am

Yeah, I think they spam a ton of people and wait for replies. I feel bad for the morons who fall for this... wait.. no I don't... they're morons.

Wed Apr 07, 2004 11:41 am

You would not believe how man people fall for this crap. I heard somewhere that it is such a successfull scam that it is Nigerias top growth industry.

Wed Apr 07, 2004 4:45 pm

no shit. Maybe I need to start spam mailing people. I'll need bully's help.

Wed Apr 07, 2004 7:37 pm

My wife and i each got one in the mail last week from the Lottery of Spain basically the same letter though.

Wed Apr 07, 2004 8:00 pm

I have also recieved these e-mails. It is always a high rated person in need of assistance because someone died and they're always Nigerians. I once replied on also and I said "This e-mail is only used for emergencies." They said that is IS an emergency and Her excellency (or whatever) MAY BE PROSECUTED and I replied "who cares." Funny stuff lol.

I remember seeing a link to somebodie's site one time, who got one of those letters, and proceeded to start messing with the guy... it was too funny...

He sent him a doctored driver's license with William Shatner's picture and a name on the license of James T Kirk... :D

Later he came up with some story about how he told them that people were after him and he had to kill somebody over it, and made a fake photo of one of his buddies, in a bathtub with blood all over the place and sent them that...

I was laughing so hard at the shit this guy did to them that I almost fell out of my chair, since you could tell from the responses that the guy on the other end was just fishing for anything he could get...

Wed Apr 07, 2004 8:52 pm

That's sweet. I wish I could have read it.

Wed Apr 07, 2004 9:45 pm

I have got them too...and frankly, they could be harmless, but they still scare the crap out of me for the fraud possibilities...

Maybe I am just some random guy who got it, or maybe they already found out a tonj about me...which is scary!
