My Wireless Netwokring Experience so Far

I bought the Linksys BEFW11S4 router and the WMP11 Network Adapter. Installation of the router took longer than expected because I did not turn off my firewall so my main computer could not get a signal. But it is now running fine. The problem begins here.
I tried to install the Linksys WMP11 network PCI adapter, but it would not work on Windows 98 1st ed. and you had to have Windows 98 SE. So, I returned it in favor of the MA111 network adapter USB . Installation took 2 minutes and it was up and running. Except, the stupid drivers that came with it had to be updated so that it would not freeze everytime it established a connection when you turned it on. So i updated the drivers and now it hangs when you try to turn the system off. I called Netgear and they said this was KNOWN problem and I had to update my BIOS.
WTF, why doesn't netgear spend 30 more sec to figuire out why their shitty drivers don't let my computer turn off. Now I am getting a friend to "aquire" me a new operating system greater than Windows 98 and hopefully I'll buy a linksys network adapter once everything is set again.

well...windows 95 is like 10 years old. a lot of things don't even work with that old OS anymore.

errrr.....that was a typo, it shoulda read greater than Windows 98, not 95, I'm a

Win98 hanging on exit while trying to close network connections is an old bug, even on 98 SE (although your problem could have a different cause). If you can upgrade to XP, go for it.

Also alot of 98 machines only have 1.0 usb, that MA111 needs 1.1 usb to work correctly if i recall right.

My windows 98 se machine has USB 2.0, firewire, gigabyte ethernet and ata133 capabilities

Hehe, Chacal, I wish, a 433 mhz Celeron with 64 mb of RAM I doubt could handle WINdows XP very efficently.
