HELP: Missing MFC42.DLL file

Hey guys I hope someone can help me out here.

I came back from a 1 week vacation to find that the MFC42.DLL file is missing from the System32 folder as I loaded up my computer.

I also get a weird notepad window that automatically opens up called "desktop" containing this message "[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787"
This is also keeping me from reinstalling BF1942 and BFV because it can not complete the installation because of the missing file.

Any idea on this problem?

That's the Microsoft Foundation Class libraries . . . they're part of the required runtime for a _ton_ of windows progs. You can try copying them off of another computer with the same OS.

I'm running into another problem when trying to copy over that file back to C:/WINDOWS/system32, I get a error say "Cannot move mfc42: Data error (cyclic rundancy check). Does this mean I'm copying over a bad file?

yep!what OS are you on?

Possibly a sign of HD corruption? Might wanna do a full scan of the drive, using the diag software from the HD manufacturer (you can d/l it from their websites usually). Just a thought.....
