Russia's nuclear forces reportedly are preparing their largest maneuvers in two decades, an exercise involving the test-firing of missiles and flights by dozens of bombers in a massive simulation of an all-out nuclear war.

Strategic military exercise is in this year plan of military training and is scheduled for mid-February under supervision of Commander-in-Chief, President Vladimir Putin.
The exercise will resemble the scenario of that in 1982 called "7-hour nuclear war" by Western countries

Not a huge deal, IMO. Russia likes to do that kind of stuff, I suppose.

Actually this kind of stuff is cool.

Intel services love it when potential opposition run exercises like this. The ability to gather Elint (Electronics Intelligence) and Sigint (Signals Inteligence) is absolutely awesome during these type of exercises.

Ask some of the old salts about sitting off of Vlad during former Soviet Union exercises in the North Pacific. And whenever we would pull ops like this in the Pacific we would always see the ubiquitous Russian "Trawler".

I have a service buddy who has pictures from the USS Oldendorf when the USSR Navy fired a SSN-14 missile right over their bow during an exercise. I know some guys with good sub stories also but we aren't allowed to talk about those!

Most of the Cold War at sea was spent playing games like that. Sometimes there were OOPS's and it got scary for a little bit but it was good times for all!
