Everyone should see the butterfly effect

Postby shockwave203 » Thu Feb 12, 2004 1:02 am

Have any of you people seen the movie the butterfly effect? I must say, it is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

The movie's style is completely original, i don't think it's ever been done before. I pursuaded some of my friends to go tonight, and they didn't really want to cuz they thought it looked stupid. After the movie, everyone was taken back because it was so deep.

I don't wanna spoil any of it so I won't discuss what happens, but it's definantly one of a very FEW movies that I will be buying on DVD.

It's not often that I'll recommend this type of a movie, but this is seriously one of the best films I've ever seen.

Just thought I'd share that. So go see it now!:D

I can't see, I just can't imagine Kelso in a serious role.

What's the original style you speak of, shockwave? I'm not familiar with the movie...

well this guy has a really bad experience when he was younger, and later on it leads to something really bad happening to someone he was once really good friends with. he has a medical condition where he 'blacks out' and can't remember certain parts of his life. later on, he finds that by reading his journals he kept when he was younger, he can 'revisit' those blackout periods, but by doing so he can actually change the past.

so he goes back to change things to try and save this girl, but everytime he does, something worse happens to the people he is close to. so each time he goes back to save this girl, he wrecks someone else's life.

kind of gives you the feeling that what you do influences other people's lives more than you think. Really great movie :)

i didn't think ashton kutcher would be any good at pulling off a serious role, but he did it pretty well.

shockwave,

i gotta tell you, your opinions on the movie, and acting, goes against every review i have seen of that movie.

my favorite quote:

"...nobody associated with making this movie can possibly emerge unscathed."

Jimmy, if I listened to movie reviews, I would barely see any movies at all. Movies that have had thumbs up reviews have been absolutely horrible, and movies with thumbs down have been great.

Personal opinion, I guess. Everyone likes something different, but I gotta say that Butterfly effect really surprised me. It was the story and the fact that one person can have such an influence over someone elses life that really stood out. Made me realize how lucky I am to have the life that I live. Not many movies have made me think about that.

take the mrs. to the movie one night. it'll keep you entertained and guessing throughout the entire show. I heard nothing but praises for this movie from everyone i know that has seen it, so I thought I'd check it out. The praises were well warranted indeed :D

I'll wait until it is on HBO, then maybe watch it.

I know reviews are just opinions, but when a movie is hailed as crap by 99% of the reviewers, there is a very good chance it indeed is.
