Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Jeffro your network connection and sound card are sharing the same IRQ but that's not nearly as big of a deal than a videocard + sound card sharing (especially a soundblaster). The way to avoid this is to figure out which IRQs are auto assigned for your motherboard and what they are shared with by default before you install your PCI devices. There should be a chart in your motherboard manual. Honestly, you should be ok so I wouldn't bother with it at this point but it's good to know for future reference.

Res- how does your framerate hold up on maps like guadalcanal and aberdeen with 64 players?

Bullhead: Checked the dxdiag and all of what you circled there is enabled... everything else there looks normal/what it should be to me...

Here's the screencap for the irq... looks like almost everything is on that one bus... damn... so the question now is how do I fix it?

with the 9800 pro i don't have any issues. i don't recall any problems on guadalcanal or aberdeen with the ti200 except when the ships were close to the island.

Wrist :wall: .. you just gave me a flashback of my older PC. It was running 2k and had a million things on IRQ 11 just like yours.

There is a way to possibly force many devices off of that IRQ but it is fairly risky and could force you to do a complete reinstall if things go awry. Since I've never had to do a reinstall of 2k or xp (knocks on wood) I'm usually the last person to recommend an action that might require that. Just in case, I'll tell you the general route you'd need to take.

When you view your computer in the device manager it is probably listed as ACPI. You would have to right click it, go to properties, choose to update the driver and tell it you want it to be a "standard PC". You also need to check your BIOS when you reboot to make sure ACPI is disabled.

In theory , windows should try and reinstall almost all of your devices including your motherboard chipset and assign them different IRQs than the previous state.

Once again I'll warn you that this could screw up your install so only consider it as the last possible resort.

Also, you didnt tell me what VIA drivers you're running. If you haven't downloaded any versions off the web then how old is your motherboard? (since they were probably installed from the mobo cd)

Bri, that will kill a pc 99% of the time. You pretty much have to reinstall windows (or at least do an upgrade) in order to have that change take place successfully.

Trying to help in via TS, and it's not going well. Windows insists on putting everything on 11, and won't take a change. I'm afraid it's going to require reinstalling windows as NON-acpi to fix it.....

Hey I said it was fairly risky so that could mean up to 99 percent failure rate. :D jk nah I knew it was risky but I can't say exactly to what percentage since I haven't done it myself. I'm just going by reports from others who have tried it in the past. BTW, if he goes with a reinstall he needs to put his soundcard in a PCI slot that is not shared with other devices by default. That info should be in the motherboard manual I'd hope.

The sad part is I JUST reformatted not more than 6 weeks ago... hoping that would fix it, but nothing... should have looked into this earlier.... guess I'll have to seek alternative methods of solving the problem, or just live with it :(

Unless anyone has some other ideas?

PS Look at crazy, trying to get me to fry my rig... sheesh, he'll try anything to shoot me down  :blow: ;) :D

Rule, maybe you and me (still running win98se) should
upgrade to XP. they say irq's are much better handled
in XP. that might be the most painless and best budget
route to fix the problem.
good luck
