Been out for a while.....

Postby Buddahead » Sun May 16, 2004 3:59 pm

As some of you may have noticed i have been out for about a week now. My reason is stupid problems with my cpmputer. I used my computer last monday night to play on the intarweb as usual and it worked just fine. Then tuesday night when i came home from school i had a problem. I turned on my computer and got no video, so i first checked all of my connections and they were good, next i checked my moniter and its fine. Finally last night i went down to risks house and checked my ram and video card, which both worked fine in his computer. Now my computer won't stay on for more than two seconds. It pops on and then shuts right back off. I don't believe its my power supply becuase the green light showing power to my motherboard is working just fine and it is powering up. So i have concluded that it is my motherboard and wondered if any of you had any idea of what else it could be. Oh, and btw i did go ahead and use this as an excuse to get a new mobo so i can run true SATA and another 512mb of pc3500!!! Can't wait....let me know if any of you guys can think of anything else this may be so i can check it out. Ty Bubba

def. sounds like mobo (based on what you've done), unless it's the proc. Did you check for blown caps on the motherboard?

:( Sad day for me, got in my new mobo and 512mb more of ram and istalled it all. That was the good part, then i turned my cpu on...... DEAD same problem i had before so its my processor, going to check it tonight at risks house to be sure but i already called intel and they told me to ship it out tomorro. They will provide me with a new one as soon as they recieve the one i am going to be sending them. So i guess its not all bad news, but it looks like its going to be at least another week untill this smacker will be back in teh server.

Ty for the reply bullhead your response helped ;)

I know what you're going through, my comp's been out of commission too. My PSU died, I had to replace that. Now I think the RAM ports on my Mobo are dead so I have to replace that as well. It's getting to the point where I might as well just buy a whole new system.

Well, Buddahead is over here and we're rebuilding his computer with a new PSU. Tusns out, it wasn't giving enought power. We tried with mine, and it worked. So now, he has a new MOBO, more RAM and a new PSU. SOmetimes its good to upgrade.

I feel your pain man, been traveling for over over a week and have lived vicariously through the boards. Looking forward to getting back in game this weekend!
