why do i lag so so bad?

Postby King » Sun May 16, 2004 11:51 pm

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to improve my ping rate... yesterday before i re-installed wolf i had aprox 38 to 70 ping... now im lucky if i get 90... it hovers around 135 or so...

i reinstalled wolf to try and get my stats up and running and now i lag like dogshit. i've never had this problem before so why do i have it now? any ideas?

Your host is blocking IMCP Pings (or is it ICMP? I can't remember...)

Thats beside the point.

Download this program, then export to a text file and copy / paste here.

Ok. No connection problems.

You should be averaging a 20+ ping, by the way.

What are the specs on your computer?

Exactly the same set-up as me, minus the sound card. Your hardware is not the problem.

Am i not correct when i say that Lag is caused only by internet connection? Or does my video card also contribute to the lag as well? My comp is about 2 years old so im wondering if my vid card is about shot....

like i said, i'm what you call a computer retard when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks again for any and all help.

Hardware can cause lag, but of course ping is your internet connection. And if you get the type of lag known as "warp" then that is not your hardware it is your internet connection.

do you have the appropriate connection option selected in the rtcw options. If you have cable, then make sure it is set at cable.

Try /pb_sleep 999 if that doesn't work it will always give you more FPS during the game because of fewer or more spread out scans I think.
