I went to a gun show this past weekend. I did not see any MG42's, but there are many other WWII era firearms on sale. I saw many Mauser 98K (I believe this is the real name, but it is unmistakebly the K98 from Battlefield). Also, the Type 99 which as I've seen noted before, most recently by Havoc, is actually a bolt action rifle and very unlike the Battlefield version. There are also plenty of Walther P38s available. You can also find a number of M-1 Garands.

I am not an expert on the era, but I do know that to get one actually built during the war years will probably cost you extra. Also, for the German firearms, the ones manufactured during the later war years decline in quality precipitously (I believe this is because the Allied bombings were really taking their toll on German factories, so quality control and aesthetics took a back seat).

Ralph...

You wont see many MG-42s anywhere. First off they are pretty
scarce, secondly you have to have a special licence to own
a full auto and another licence to sell full auto

That is why you dont see Mg-42s

I guess I will have to settle with a karbiener 98. (k98) :(

Boy would it be sweet to hold one of those strumgewehrs or g43.
