I tried to read all of the replies but jeeez some of them were as long as my... well they were long.

I'm 31 and to be honest I can maybe think of 2 provinces off the top of my head. Like someone said, Canada isn't in the news much so you don't hear about the different provinces often.

I went there 3 times growing up with my dad, we went fishing and it was awesome, we were miles from nowhere. With exception of all the bugs, the place was unreal. I also went to Toronto on a class trip in High School, we thought it was cool that people were talking different languages, we tried to figure out what they were saying but we obviously could not.

I think some of the opinions here are a little, well, off the cuff. Canada is still part of North America, i think too many people watch South Park and aren't really intending to be hurtful, just trying to joke but not realizing it might touch a nerve.

Siren is in Canada??? Ok, Canada can stay then...:D :D Maybe we can send Trever to France.

LOL thanks whitesox....

I'd just like to add to all this BS that Canadians are hostile and rude to Americans... a PRIME example...

Clinton was in Toronto (thats in Ontario Canada) this week for his only Canadian appearance on a book signing. People traveled hundreds of miles and were lined up several blocks for the meet&sign. It has been on the news for days and the clips have been nothing but people saying great things about him...and what an honor it was to meet a former American President. Some people are even making jokes about some Canadian Politics with him.... the amount of respect this man is being shown is mammoth.... and not just because people think he's just some celebrity whose autograph would be "cool"... but because they too hold special beliefs that were relevant to what he published/stood for at one point in his life in America.

I think its important for some people to look at the big picture here..... opinions about America are flying around the world like never before with Bushs' decisions over the past while. It clearly has nothing to do with dislike/rivalry with countries in whole.... its just a reflection of things associated with American culture right now (IE: Bush controversies).

Im sure if Jean Cretien visited the US it'd be lined up for blocks too and he'd be shown the same manners we've shown Clinton   ;)

If it wasn't for Canada.... Millions of young American men would have to wait several more years to enjoy the dubious merits of strip-bars and beer.

Canada acts as a gigantic nuclear war-head hunting ground in case of missiles comine from Roosha.

Without Canada hundreds of thousands of homes in America would be bereft of Bambi-on-steroid heads.

Canadian wilderness, largely pristine, helps purify the water and air in dees dem parts of da world.

Without Canada the Falls of Niagra would be the end of the world. You can actually see the falls from our side without haveing to use a helicopter or be pushed over the edge by well-meaning friends as you live-vid your way down.

Without Canada American beer would probably be less then 1% alcohol.

Canadians don't seem to do or accomplish much on the world stage, yet consistantly rank in the top 10 as 'best places to live'--an unnerving and quirky reminder to the American populace that there are Strange Places Out There which are actually (theoretically) cool and nice and--most importantly, well-off.

Canadians have never been known for the 'Canadian Dream'. As such, you can actually go from your car to the subway without carrying a gun and worrying about A. who to rob or B. who is going to rob you.

Canadians are polite and pleasant, if a bit vacant. Muggers love Canadians as they hear things like "I'm sorry I don't have more." Or, "It's kind of cold out eh? Do you need a ride to the crack house too?" Or, "The exchange rate sucks, I'm sorry. Here, take these toonies. (whatever it/that/they/those are)."

Canada is really.... really quite big. With very few people. It makes many Americans feel proud that they're capable of defending Canada if things really get ugly. Invading/defending....such a fine line. There's an almost 'This is Canada, my disabled brother' kind of feel to some Americans when they flex muscles, talk about nuclear pre-emptive strikes and Canada.

Canada provides useful things. Like the Canada Arm for the space shuttle. Lets face it, without it... the shuttle would be just another cool place to have a party with a lot of people--except in zero gee.

Canada has the largest concentration of fresh-water in the world. Given predicted water shortages, and supposing that the hydrogen cell thing ever works out, Canada would have the juiciest collection of precious resources. And much easier to 'liberate' if need arose.

I love Canada. Beautiful country, friendly folks, and they have hockey, which is the best sport in the world. They did line up for hours for Clinton, but I'll try not to hold it against them :)
Maybe we'll line up for Lucien Bouchard and call it even ;)

i've been to canada i was impressed w/ a few things:

1. 90% of the women were hot... im not talking about pretty good lookin' im talkin whiplash giving hot.

2. It was really really clean.... toronto was badass. Walking through downtown toronto a very large city and it didn't smell like piss or italian food... or iltalian food and piss mixed like NYC.

3. The people were really friendly.

4. Hockey rules... if you dont believe me ask any one of the NHL players who play w/ broken ribs, feet, wrists... etc and tell him that.

5. Road signs that really make you understand that if you are doing something wrong then the consequences are severe ie: "Driving under the influence may not just kill you, but your family too."

6. A sign right outside the border of Alaska... thanks for visiting CANADA! Now go see America's stepchild... ALASKA!!

7. I wasn't afraid of getting mugged in canada.

8. When driving back, i was actually bummed to be leaving Canada.

9. The Skydome the original retractable dome.

10. Largest manmade structure in the world... comes w/ its very own glass floor... The CN Tower.
"Whats the Situation?" "Two blokes and a fuckload of cutlery!"

a lot of the country sees extreme temperatures. Last winter, it got down to -60 celsius in my city (which is -76 F). In the summer, it's not too uncommon to see temps reach 40 C (104 F)

cold winters, hot summers.
