DOSBox
Here are some commands to get you started:
Before you can use the files located on your on filesystem, you have to mount the directory containing the files.
For Windows:
mount c c:\dosprog will create a C drive in DOSBox with c:\dosprog as the contents.
When the mount has sucessfully completed you can type C: to go to your freshly mounted C: drive. You can run files with extensions .exe, .bat, .com.
You can also set one file to do the above commands automatically so you don't have to do it every time you launch the emulator. If you wish to do this, open your DOSBox.conf file in your DOSBox folder with a text editor such as Notepad and scroll down to the part where it says:
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
Here's what I have mine set to:
mount c c:/dos_games (Mounts hard drive)
C: (Switches to mounted HD)
cls (Clears screen)
Useful keys if you need them:
Ctrl F5 - Takes Screenshot (320 * 200)
Ctrl F11 - Decrease emulation speed
Ctrl F12 - Increase emulation speed

Thanks, but will it allow me to play my games? That I know of a dos emulator will only let me play a couple games I have, like fallout 1, capitalism plus, MW2 and battle isle 2000.
As nearly all of my dos collection was lost when hurricane mother decided to throw all my consoles CDs and games away. I haven't been able o rebuild my dos game collection. :\

Try going to http://www.the-underdogs.org that's the best site to reminisce about how great games used to be. IMO many of the older games are much better than the ones now. The designers didn't have all the fancy graphics to work with, so more effort went into the storyline and gameplay. Seems like I had this discussion with someone at the meet up but I can't remember now...

Fragile Allegiance.
nothing like having the choices of either:
a) building a massive fleet complete with capital ships and fighters, bombers out fitting them with whatever you want (shields, bombs, lasers)
b) build missiles (explosives, biological, nuclear, or the uber big one where you blow up an entire planet)
c) spend spies to sabotage
d) outfit your planet with a planetary engine, and set it to maximum speed and have it collide with an enemy planet LoL!
