Well, Mark Schifter, the founder of av123.com, of which I own some of their speakers, has just outdone himself. He has anounced an amazing speaker coming this winter at an amazing price, the Strata Mini at $1,595 a pair. That may seem like a lot, but the Strata One(I think renamed Maxi) is $5,500.

If uses a 350 watt custom designed 8" woofer(note, not subwoofer, it is not made for low end), the Athom 5.25" driver for mid-bass to a new 10" planar magnetic ribbon midrange and a ribbon tweeter. Of course the signature of Mark's speakers: real wood veneer.

If anyone is interested in getting into high end audio, this is a good step.

It is a hell of a deal, and I would be tempted to sell my theater and go 2 channel audio if these speakers turn out as good as I think they will.

No, I do nto work for av123.com, nor am I advertising for them. I just love good home audio and like to get people interested in it that may not have thought much about it. I remember at least one ECGN'er who has either bought or sold on audiogon(ebay for high end audio).
