PLaying Imports on PS2.. help please

Postby Sh@dow Raven » Sun Sep 19, 2004 7:48 pm

Ok, I have a PS2, and two Import PSX games from Japan.

I already have a Mod CHip (DMS3) which I can't use because I cant sodder it to the board. Very tiny wires.... and I ahve no experience in that field.

I have heard there are devices, or plug in Mod Chips that allow you to play import games. I was thinking of two... I thought you could with a Gameshark..... but that was a no.

The other I thought was the Action Replay thing.... I ahve no idea and don't want to buy one until I get some more info.

Anyone know if this works... or is there another device or Mod CHip I could use??

I originally went with the DMS3 because it disables Macromedia Encoding, making it so I could play imports... back-ups of imports, back-ups of PSX, PSOne, an PS2 games, but the guy who was gonna sodder it for me never did. It's still in a sealed package.... never been opened.

This would also make recording DVD's to VHS tapes possible.

But, since I can't use this Mod Chip.... anyone know of any other good ones, or if Action Replay works??

Thanks :D

http://www.estarland.com/index.asp?page=Help§ion=Import#Compatibility
Scroll down about mid page and under PS2 it has Magic Slide with a link.
They also have the PS2 ARs, but i dont think it said it would play imports.

Yup, they do the same things for DVDs, if your DVD doesn't have the passcode for american it won't let you play it on a DVD player from america.
>.o

you can buy them that don't scan for it but their more expensive. To bad it isn't like the gamecube where there is a switch inside it so you can switch it to japanese mode and back. :D (Only good thing about it IMO)

I find you can still get the imported games to work - get a sludgehammer, and whack your system about 5-6 times. If it still doesn't work, you need to take more swings at it.

Glad I could help!
