Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Just wondering who has picked it up. I have and find it to be amazing and addicting. But my game seems to crash at random, not just a crash to desktop either I mean a real CRASH where my monitor turns off and my speakers start to squeell and scream (not good).:(

Hope some of you are enjoying it. :( :violin:

Sucks when you spend 15 minutes fighting the Gaul back and just before you totally route them your computer dies and goes to hell.

I have been thinking of picking this game up, and might later tonight. i have a stack of games I no longer play to turn in, which shoudl get me the SW DVD set and a game. I was thinking of just prebuying HL2 with the extra, but might jump on R:TW.

I have the pcgamer demo right next to me, but I haven't installed it.

I bought medieval:total war and the viking expansion, however, didn't get into it. :(

The time-based part of the game was WAY too in-depth and the in-game battles were just "meh".

The only thing I was impressed with was the amount of people battling at once. :)

TO "meh"!?!?!?!?! WHat are you? On crack, boy?!

I was impressed by Shogun, total war, and still am with a max of what? 16 units?!

Yeah the turn based part gets pretty deep when you get a lot of territory but you can actually turn whichever settlements you want to AI management same with in battle only groups being AI controlled. Haven't tried it yet but might have to once I get more settlements, the campaign map is ginourmous.

I think the coolest part of this game is the prebattle General's speeches. They actually give a speech tailored to the specific situation you face and they say stuff like "I want to bathe in their blood. I want to Bathe in their blood for a week!" "Battlecries"

I think I fixed my problem by just deleting all the adware on my PC go figure. (crosses fingers)

PS - Good luck Floridians and others I feel for you. :(

I bought it Thursday. I just conquered all of the Gaul territories after MANY hours of play. I think it is a great game. It is the first total war game I have played. The strategic part reminds me of Civilization and the tactical battles remind me of real-time strategy battles.

Jim

P.S. Naval battles suck. They are all automated, no real-time action. The rest of the game is very good though.

Damn you beat the Gauls already!

I've been playing way too much and they still have one more settlement left. This game is addicting as hell I keep saying one more turn till I finally have to leave. Something about watching Onangers launch flaming boulders into a mass of enemy just gets me. I've yet to try the Incendiary Pigs but I reckon they rock. This game is by far the most involving strategy game I've ever played.

But yeah naval battles are weak. Maybe expansion will bring some naval controlled battles that would be freakin awesome.

Sorry for random thoughts but I'm fried. Must make better efforts to structure my posts.

Rome total war is supposed to be accurately depicting units from that time, as well as tactics, so there goes your mezmerising sea battles. lol

Shogun didn't even have sea units. :D

I have been playing hours of this game. It is very good. It is going to take forever to finish the campaign.

This game is simply amazing, immersive, and addicting.

IMO, this is the best real time strategy game ever made. Yes, even better than command & conquer.

The battles are awesome along with the music, which changes depending on whats taking place during the battle. For example, when you order your troops to charge, you'll hear the tempo and drums start to beat rapidly just like in the movies Braveheart and Gladiator.
