Wacked

Postby -HaVoC- » Sun Nov 28, 2004 8:48 pm

I was just reading up on a band on MCA records website. I went from there to mp3.com. In the process a pop up came up concerning the installation of some form of software. The LARGE button in the window said"close this window". Instead of clicking on the LARGE button I simply clicked the "x" in the upper right hand corner to close the window.

BING BANG BOOM *&%&^%&^%$&*$*&^*^

It was and still is an event that may require a ghosted reinstall.

No less than 5 apps were installed, Adaware found 312 red alert items and Norton tripped about 12 trojan warnings. Spybot is still running.

I'm not some nub in the computer world. I've got quite a few years building and servicing them. I come prepared with my router, firewall, up to date antivirus, pop up blockers and spyware protection running stay resident.

wtf

I know wwwcools is a bitch, delete it and it reinstalls next time you reboot, or even faster. I told someone I know who trusts me to let me take remote contorl of their PC, I took some 800 spyware programs off, can't get the last 80 something out though.

I also uploaded my host file to her computer and added a few things, if I can find out where that wwwcools varient is redownloading itself from I would add that to the host also. So far no luck.
