Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge

No matter how often I read about it, it always blows me away.
81,000 Allies lost in a single six week battle, and all acrossed Australia, Canada, England and the US, men (and boys) were lined up around the block to join, lying about their age or medical conditions if need be.
The Greatest Generation was about 10,000 times tougher than we'll ever be. I can't even figure out how those guys lived through a bitter cold winter, sleeping on the ground or in holes with just those crappy blankets, no high tech down sleeping bags. How the hell did they get through that and still manage to fight like hell against the Germans is beyond my ability to comprehend.
