Postby EZC » Thu Dec 23, 2004 1:58 pm

Well i decided to get myself a christmas present this year. So i have about $1000 that i can waste this year so i decided to build a computer. I already have a monitor from my existing computer and printer. One of my friends is helping me but Iam stuck on the motherboard. He suggested three motherboards and he explained the differences but i dont speak computer so i dont know which one is better i will list them with specs and price.

1. 3ghz Intel Pentium 4 Processor with Motherboard 179.99
boxed cpu 800mhz fsb with hyper threading technology.
usb 2.0
6channel sound
SATA.

2. AMD AThlon 64 3200+ Processor with motherboard 199.99
Boxed cpu with fan & 3yr warranty
SATA
LAN
6 Channel Audio.

3. Intel Pentium 4 520 proccessor with motherboard 199.99
2.8ghz bare cpu
800mhz fsb
motherboard featuring:
1xpci Express x16 & 1 agp express slot
2x Pci express x1 & 2x Pci Slots

Those are the three motherboards. He said decide and he will show me how to put them together with all the other stuff i have to get. :violin: :) I would appreciate as much help as i can get. Thanks

Don't get a pentium 4. Get a dual xeon for the same price and outperform the single p4. :o

IMO, AMD AThlon 64 3200+

My company has install several and love them.
Get plenty of good RAM, and a great Video card.

I'd run the Intel P4 on an Intel motherboard. I would do this because it will perform without a burp and provide more than enough speed for a more than reasonable price.

I've run the rest and now support the best.
