Merry Christmas to ME!
Finally got around to building a new comp to replace my old and outdated gaming comp.
Here are the specs:
AMD athlon 64 3200+ Winchester 90nm OC'd to 2.5ghz
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Tower (no side panel) (silver)
NEC 3200 DVD & CD burner (Silver)
ASUS DVD/CD ROM (16x48) (Silver)
Alpine Floppy (silver)
Vantec EZ Swap harddrive kit
2x Seagate Barracuda 200gig SATA drives (1 for storage, 1 for backups of important data)
1x Seagate Barracuda 80gig SATA drive (2 partitions, OS & Games)
Soundblaster Audigy 4
2x512meg Crucial Ballistix DDR3200 ram sticks
ATI Radeon 9600 (from old machine..will update later...to many out of stocks atm)
MSI Neo2 Platinum MoBo
IIyama 22" flat screen CRT
Ulrta X-Connect 500Watt PSU
Should have this baby running this weekend, and will be spending alot of time setting it up and transfering data from old comp to new configuration.
I should actually be able to play games without it being so choppy its unbearable
Wolf was only game I could play without rediculous choppyness (get around 15fps normally in CS, and 5fps during fights, and its so choppy I cant even move at times).
System I replaced:
AMD XP1700+
1x 75gig Maxtor HD
2x 18gig Seagate SCSI HD's (for audio creation)
1x Plextor Plexwriter (12/4/32) SCSI burner
1x Plextor Ultraplex CD Rom drive
1x Castlewood Orb drive (for backups or important data)
Soundblaster Live (with live drive)
ATI Radeon 9600
Linksys NIC
About time I updated that pile of crap

How much did you spend Heart? I think I might upgrade in another month or two, pretty much the same specs as you, minus a hard drive or two.

Think around $1800 give or take. I didn't have to buy the monitor (had already for my work comp).
So it would probably be around $1500 if you took out a few HD's. Plus a Monitor
