Put away your cubans!

Postby Jeffro » Tue Feb 08, 2005 4:38 pm

And I don't mean your illegal immigrants either! :P

You can no longer smoke in public on Cuban Territory.

Actually, that means, if people cut back, that they will have more to export to foreign markets which will garner them more money than they could have sold them for at home. ;)

Actually, it says "Cubans are no longer allowed to smoke in air-conditioned areas, offices, schools and sports centers". That's quite different.

Good for them, we're past that point in Canada and it's something we should have done earlier.

It's kind of sad, Cubans don't have a lot going for them economy-wise and freedom-wise (not trying to sound jingoistic here), but they have the finest cigars in the world. It only makes sense they should walk around all day enjoying the one great thing they have. I love that picture of the women, it just kinda says it all "at least we have these kick ass stogeys!"

This does nothing extremely negative for them. Most Cuban nationals can't afford the MC or Partagas anyway. The government of Cuba owns all the cigar factories. Its called Habanos. They would not do anything to cripple their economy. Canada, Europe and even the good ol USA will still get their hands on the cigars. Spain, Switzerland and Hong Kong. I could go on. This is Cuba's equivelent of no smoking in pubs in Ireland and the smoking ban going on now in states like NY and Delaware.

Well...to be honest, I should have read the whole article instead of the caption and title. But who needs details now...;)
