No more HBO Carnivale

Postby cavalierlwt » Wed May 11, 2005 2:08 am

:violin:
Crap, HBO is going to start dropping it's cool original shows in favor of the generic sh*t normally found on Network TV.
Carnivale was a cool show

They dropped it? WTF?

Glad to see The Wire has a 4th season coming out in 2006. Just watched seasons 1 and 2 via netflix. That is one bad ass cop show.

The Wire barely got renewed, almost didn't happen. With the exception of their upcoming 'Rome' series, HBO is switching over to the that generic crap found on network TV: Teen Wish Fulfillment and Reality TV. Their two newest shows 'Entourage and Unscripted' are examples of the direction they are going in. I would say Deadwood, SFU, Sopranos, The Wire are all going to have one more season and that's it.

interesting television will die with Deadwood... it is the PERFECT show... the hell are we to do without these shows?

I sure hope Rome lives up to the standard they've set... how depressing!

Well, from what I can tell so far it is only an internet rumor and HBO has not said anything officially.

I would be suprised if they canceled all of their 'good' shows after one more season(besides Sopranos, which has just one season left anyways). They use these shows to rake in awards for their network.

Agreed! Deadwood is a great show. Try taking a sip of whiskey everytime someone says the word "cocksucker" :)

I love Deadwood, it's the kind of show that is worth watching the episodes a second time to fully get every bit of the language. In between the 'Cocksuckers' and 'Motherfuckers' , Deadwood's dialogue is so Shakespearean at times.

For anyone who hasn't seen the show and only heard about the swearing, here's a snipped from the transcripts of an episode where the telegraph just arrived in Deadwood:

>>
Al: Invisible messages from invisible sources, or what some people think of as progress.
Dan: Ain’t the heathens used smoke signals all through recorded history?
Al: How’s that a fucking recommendation?
Dan: Well, it seems to me like, you know, letters posted one person to another is just a slower version of the same idea.
Al: When’s the last time you got a fucking letter from a stranger?
Dan: Bad news about Pa.
Al: Bad news! Or tries against our interests is our sole communications from strangers, so by all means, let’s plant poles all across the country, festoon the cocksucker with wires to hurry the sorry word and blinker our judgments of motive, huh?
Dan: You’ve given it more thought than me.
Al: Ain’t the state of things cloudy enough? Don’t we face enough fucking imponderables?
Dan: Well, by God, you give the word, Al, and them poles will be kindling.
