Weight?

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

60-65% of Americans are overweight, where do you stand?

Thanks Random, yeah its going ok...Coming real slow right now though... :) I would like to get to 235, thats the weight I was when I met my wife many years ago...I was happy at that weight. I have been as high as 310, thats when I too was diagnosed with diabetes (Hi EZC!). With my weight down where it is now, I am able to be off all meds for now....Just had some blood drawn today. I will find out in a week or two if I have to have meds....

:)

Sounds like you've reached a plateau. This is where most people give in because they think they can't lose anymore weight and ever losing more is hopeless. I'd say to continue watching what you eat, step up your excercise to a higher intensity, and maybe work out a bit longer if possible. I hope you won't ever have to use your meds again, good luck!

Rand0m, if youre looking to loose weight right away (or even over time) you need to work on cardio. Running is going to be the most effective, but if its to intense try swimming then kick it up slowly. Weight lifting is always good for you so dont hesitate to do it until after losing weight, it will only help you.

When it comes to running its not as much physical as it is mental...youve got to keep pushing yourself, but dont worry, after awhile the endorphins kick in (for me typically after 20 minutes) and you feel no pain at all.

I plan on running within the next week or two. After classes start and everything settles down with college. Something I've found thats wierd to me is running indoors/outdoors are two completely different things. I think I could run inside all day without gettings winded, but outside is a real mutha f*&kin work out let me tell ya haha. Something to do with the air I tell ya!

Everyone tells me I dont need to lose weight, but I dont like the way I look haha. I think dropping 10lbs would be perfection kind of for me, haha.

I remember when I use to lift when I was doing it for about a month got up to 130 squating, but thats nothing compared to the 310-400 some guys were lifting. That was a sight if I ever saw one. The damn bar would bend over their backs as they were lifting haha.

Runners high is always fun once you've finished a long run, or one long enough to get one. I might try and do the boston marathon in a year or two depending on the amount of time I can train for it. I swear one of the runners high I got felt like I was on ecstasy, if I knew one that was haha.

Like Siren said, cardio is the best type of workout I think. Works the most important thing you have, your heart. Its good for you, keeps you healthy, and most importantly changes your mood. Also makes you feel better about yourself.

Square, fast food is evil!!!!!! I don't know why I've ever eatin it. Hardly ever do now, once in a blue moon though. One meal there, say a fry, soda, burger is almost all to half of the calories your supposed to take in during the course of a day. Not to mention there are over 1000-2000 cows in one burger. The food was designed in a science lab, literally by Chemists. It's all a scam for money. The food is made to give you a bigger appetite, and make you fat.

One of my favorite quotes regarding working out at a gym, "It wouldn't mind it so much if they would equip the damned things with a beer can holder."

I haven't had the option myself (another medical misfit here) was forbidden weight lifting way back when I was 13, it is to laugh.
