Wireless router

Postby LeVar Burton » Thu Dec 01, 2005 5:46 pm

I got a wireless router so I could use my family's internet connection and it was working fine at first. Now it seems to be going kind of slow on both computers. Whenever I do a speed test at dslreports it goes through the download part just fine, but stops when it gets to the upload part. Is there anything I have to do besides setting the password and encryption stuff? Or could this just be the cable company?

Upload speed is typically very limited on cable. Ask your cable company what that speed is set too and I'll bet it's what you're seeing.

also you should be able to connect to the router via cable and test to see if you get the same or similar results

Be sure to secure that router! Many people leave the setting at default, which is unsecured.
