Comcast Networking

Hmm seeing as though comcast offers very little customer service...thought i would ask the networking experts here what they can make of this.
Over the summer and into the fall i experienced extreme amounts of lag in game. I would ping yahoo.com and for every 4-5 successful pings, i would recieve a request timed out. I tried a new modem but it didn't help. Comcast "technicians" would make a visit or two to the house every week over the course of a month and repeatedly would say they do not see a problem. They saw that the signal was fairly weak but could not find a problem with the line itself. So as winter drew closer....the internet started to pan out nicely and i had zero complaints up til 3 days ago. Without a router I was recieving 800/k sec over a 250meg download. With the router and the same file it had dropped to 150/k sec. Before my problems i was only recieving maybe 300-350/k sec at best with the router. Im excited to see a huge performance increase of more than double now but unfortunately it takes about 30 secs to load any given webpage even without any downloads..p2p programs running.
I called comcast this morning and they said i was experiencing about 20% packet loss and that they would once again send out a technician to check the line. I cannot see how i can maintain more then double the download rate and ping sites successfully but cannot load a webpage. I have tried without router on two computers. One is brand new out of the box dell and the other is homebuilt. I am tempted to switch to dsl as i believe is the only other "high speed" internet offered in my area. Yes i realize that it is slower...but hey im sure it can prove to be more reliable then a comcast line and comcast service. I have included a picture taken after loading http://www.yahoo.com. I was pinging the site while it was loading and took the stats after it had finished. It boggles my mind.

What modem?
I know that in Jersey, using Optimum Online, that my modem and router combination had some "incompatibility". What was happening was that my Motorola Surboard modem and my Linksys BEFSR41 v2.0 had a speed "mismatch" on the WAN port. The WAN port was rated for 100mbps, but not 100mbps full duplex. There is an issue with Surfboard modems and 100mbps WAN ports on routers for some god forsaken reason. I was seeing slow speeds on downloads because the router would limit the speed because of the WAN port.
When I upgraded to the BEFSX41 router with a 200mbps full-duplex WAN port, my speed jumped a hell of a lot higher. Haven't looked back since.

It would be a better test if you could choose another site than Yahoo. Netstat says there's a lot of ads on that page, each with a different connection, any one of these can slow down response time (not ping).

When dealing with my cable conncection (I miss my DSL 
) I alwayd restart the modem before calling Suscom, which is turning into Comcast I hear.... /cry

Power cycling the modem is most definitely one of the first things to look at with connectivity issues.
