Spyware

Postby TiNM@N » Sat May 06, 2006 5:22 pm

Ok so when i play BF2 i turn off my spysweepr software. After i hopped out of my game last night i i get this warning screen about possibile spyware.

About a month ago i installed a 10rpm HD. Before that i used the Firefox (FF) browser, after the new HD i went to using IE just because i was sick of all the websites that wouldnt work properly with FF. So I saw a lot more pop ups since using IE and now with this hijacking thats going on... when i click the IE and shoudl go to my yahoo homepage it stops and gives me this message.

"Warning: possible spyware or adware infection! Click here to scan your computer for spyware and adware...
Facts about spyware
Spyware gathers your private information without your consent.
This information includes passwords and credit card details, as well as other sensitive data.
Once installed, spyware keeps track of your surfing habits, which makes it possible for unsolicited ads, popups and spam
messages to make their way to your PC and disturb you even when you’re not surfing the Internet.
Spyware can not be removed by antivirus and firewalls.
These programs are not even able to find evidence of spyware being installed on the computer.
Spyware also uses your computer’s memory and system resources making your PC incredibly slow."

It has all the Windows color shields and "looks somewhat legit"

When you click the "X" to close the pop up it takes you to antispylab. I know this is a fricken setup where i have a issue and then all of a sudden this place just happened to sell me the cure. MOFO's

My question is i have updated all my definitions and when they do the sweep that come across this critial breach... and i say remove... then when i go back to the IE the page gets REDIRECTED again.

After a little while i get a little box:
SYSTEM SHUTDOWN - This is is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initated by NT AUTORITY/SYSTEM.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe'terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819. The system will now shut down and restart.

a little clock starts to count down and when it gets to 44 seconds it stops and gives me a pop-up from windows security center. Saying the same info pretty much Says visit windows security center web site and download spyware remover. either "ok" or "cancel" even if you cancel it takes you to the god damn site.

I have spysweeper and ad-ware SE along with norton 2004 (update of course) anyone have anyadvice on some other free program, where to look for this bugger or any other help would be apperciated.

My brother in law had the same thing on his computer, those
instructions in that post cleaned it up.

good luck

Blade, Thanks much man. Ran it and seemed to actually remove the issue's at hand unlike the other sweepers. I owe's you one. :)

Believe it or not, Microsoft's free antiadware works well. I would also suggest installing Spybot Search and Destroy. It has multiple tools for 'locking' your registry among other options so that these things can't get installed.

Glad to hear that it helped clean things up.
