Day after thanksgiving

Off topic, but don't go too far overboard - after all, we are watching...heh.

Would you sleep outside a store for a really good deal?

Day after thanksgiving

Postby Stl Lunatic » Sat Nov 25, 2006 11:51 am

Did anyone wait outside any stores for the big deals all night? I did lol...I waited at the local best buy from 6:30 Thanksgiving till 5:00 the next morning to get a new computer and some other great deals...I got a dvd burner for 30 bucks...250 gig internal hard drive for 60 dollars...2 one gig flash drives 15 each...two nintendo DS for 100 bucks each...and then the computer itself was 185 dollars...3.33 ghz
100 gig hard drive... 512 mb memory...its pretty basic but its for my mom to play those yahoo online games and other generic stuff...9 hours in the cold...it sucked...was below freezing the whole night....lol :D

The funniest thing I heard there the whole night was when some guy drove by at like midnight. There was prolly about 300 people there by then...and the guy driving by yelled out "what are you guyes waiting out here for?" and somebody next to me yelled "were waiting for PS4"
Also someone said "Why arent you people sleaping at home?" lol

Most of the time I played street football infront of the store...that killed some time till like 1 in the morning...then we had to stop since they turned the lights out...I watched like an hour and a half of mission impossible 3...then our batteries died on our dvd player since my uncle hadnt used it in 2 years...the rest of the time we froze ...

Anyone else have any good stories?

Were that many people waiting to buy that 3.33ghz computer that you need to wait for 7 hours in the cold? Couldn't you have just showed up at like 6?

haha that's what i was gonna say.

At my local Circuit City, they had 1gb flash drives on sale for $3.99 each. I saw guys walking around with arms full of 20 or more.

Anyways, I arrived at the store at 5:15am after it opened at 5am. I had to park 2 parking lots over cause there were so many people. I walked in the store and there were people everywhere. You literally had to squeeze through people just to walk. I eventually found my way to the camera section and I joined the waiting line. While waiting in line a couple things happened. You know those showcases were they have every camera on display? Well some really tall guy fell asleep and leaned on one of the cameras and snapped the thing that holds it. Then the alarm went off and a bunch of employees came running. lol Also, after being in line for about 2 and a half hours, an old lady in line behind me just randomly passed out. Employees came rushing once again the paramedics were called. I guess the lady had diabetes or something, I kinda felt bad for her. So I waited in line for 3 hours and eventually got what I was looking for. The camcorder I wanted was almost sold out, but I got the 2nd to last one. I got it for $380 which was a huge bargain. That's it for my story. :D

The deals are typically for cheap crap, like the LCD HDTV's. I wouldn't buy them in the first place, no matter the price.

200+ Gig HD deals for around $20? Great deal. For 60$ I will order from home anytime I want without standing in the cold all night long.

I would not take a job that paid me $40 a night to stand in the cold, why would I stand in the cold to save myself $40?

Ok i wanted to get this vcr/dvd writer combo unit that was for sale. They open at 5, I figured what 100 people will be there.. WRONG!!! Like 700-1000.

I show up at 10 til 5, see the monster line, ok I felt a tad guilty but I know the company has kiosks INSIDE the store that people from other companies work at, i went to the side door, said "I am the computer guy for the kiosks, they want us here early for the big rush" the 16 year old at the door, says " oh yeah cmon in bud" hehehehe

Got my item and then stayed for 20 mins to people watch.

They had the laptops also on sale for an outragous price...like 300 for an 1200 dollar laptop...that was what we were trying to get...but they sold out of them the person right before us...we were person number 40 ...started at 30 but some idiots butted... My aunt was looking to get it for my cousin for college...

And yes if you wanted to get what you wanted you had to be there at about 7-8 the day before...the first person at the store I heard was at 3 o clock the day of thanksgiving....you must be a pretty big looser if you have to get to best buy at 3 on thanksgiving lol...

At times it was really fun so i dont regret going at all...playing football kept me bissy and warm lol...
