I'll just add that to the things I'll never be able to afford category. Looks sweet though. :)

Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.

I'm sure coach looks like coach on every other plane:

boarding for a flight like that must be a nightmare. Its also got to cost a fortune.

I'm willing to sacrifice comfort for faster travel. If they would come out with a Southwestern airlines version of Concorde then i'd be so greatful.

All I want for comfort is a seat with lumbar support and *two* armrests per person!

It looks like a typical airplane builder puff piece - they only show first and business class, they include lounges and other grand concepts that never make it on to an operational airline flight because they take up space that could be used by paying passengers. All the 380 will really mean is longer waits to get through security (more people passing through), longer waits in an airport lounge (because it takes longer to board), and longer waits at baggage claim (more passengers = more luggage = more time to sort luggage and get it into baggage claim). And if you're flying internationally, just imagine the line at Customs with 1/3rd more passengers than a typical 747 or 777. So far, no US companies have signed on to buy the monster, so perhaps air travel in the US won't be completely messed up for a while longer.

The A380 is a *massive* failure financially. Apparently Airbus and Boeing both took different approaches designing their next-gen carriers. Airbus gambled that it would be better to move massive amounts of people from one major hub to another major hub (spoke and hub), Boeing bet that airlines would need smaller, more fuel efficient planes to go the more direct route between smaller airports (Point to Point).

Given the price of fuel, Boeing is absolutely killing Airbus with orders for their smaller fuel effecient plane called 'Dreamliner'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787

Tough luck for Airbus, as they actually took out a big govt loan to complete the A380 project.

Interesting stuff I suppose, but we're all (mostly) still doomed to fly packed like sardines, fighting with the a*hole next to us for that precious single armrest! :<
