RIP.
Nice old guy thrown into a crazy situation: an unelected president (he took over when Nixon resigned) faced with the tough task of calming everyone down and holding it all together.
From my perspective though, the only think I can personally remember about him was the Bicentennial. I can recall in the first grade our teacher telling us that President Ford wanted us to 'clean up America' for our big Bicentennial celebration. Pretty confusing stuff at the time, but I do have fond memories of people making a kind of half-hearted attempt to get fired up and patriotic about the Bicentennial--I'm sure there's one or two people on this board that are old enough to remember it.

Failing to plead
with a throat full of dust
Life falls asleep
in a fetal position.

I remember the Bicentennial... we took a school bus trip into Philadelphia's historic district. There was stuff going on there. Geez, I can barely remember.

thanks to Spirit of Me for the sig!
