- Location: Owning a 9 second import is like coming out of the closet. At first you surprise everyone, but in th
Armed Assault, I HAVE IT!!!!!!!!
I went to GoGamer and got the UK version (which is patched to 1.04) had them send it 3-5 days and I only payed $48.
Now I know some of you tried the DEMO and it was horrible. The full version of the game along with the current patches make a very VERY different playing surface. I would venture to say that this has more realism than BF2 Project Reality MOD.
I was playing with the Mission editor (which lets you create your own bizzare scenarios, i.e. 4 T72's vs 4 Abrams or a lone SF Recon vs 30 militants, what ever you want you can create it!) FREAKING AWESOME
anyways if you have a chance to 'try it' or experience it on someone else's computer i highly suggest it. It's really a nice change.
I haven't had a chance to go online with it, (and i would suppose that there will be lots and lots of European servers and fewer American servers). Game play is very unforgiving if your careless and the controls are a bit awkward for the few first rounds. I would say give it a shot, but don't expect to be as easy to jump into like BF2.
The single player missions are what I'm currently playing. They offer these for multiplayer (which i can host and play by myself) Coop, FF, CTF, DM, Hold (a castle), SC (Sector Control - kinda seems like BF2 but points go up, versus tickets going down).
Weapons have real life recoil, ungodly if your standing - slightly less while kneeling - though you can go full auto with SAW while prone and it groups into the size of a small sedan at 100yds or greater.
Sniper rifles HAVE to be used loooooooooooooooooooong distances, can't seem to find shit when the enemy are within 50 yards there is no partial zoom.
How they made the sun a factor is very neat. Where if you look at it (sun) your screen goes white and you can't see anything, so it behooves you to attack with it to your backside.
Tanks are LOUD and they almost seem to make the ground shake.
Blowing leafs, dragon flies, birds flying (and others chirping) make environment that much more real.
You can't run and shoot, you stand still when you reload (which is slightly putzy), animations show you get on your knee, and then go prone. You can peek around corners while standing or kneeling and while prone you can roll right or left (but can't shoot).
Haven't looked at the controls that closely but it looks like you can bind multiple keys.
