Back With Rebuilt Computer

Tue Jul 10, 2007 11:04 pm

I haven't been around much for a couple of weeks, mainly because my 'puter broke :( The motherboard, or one of it's componants, failed. I just got the rebuild/restore process to the point where I can get back online, gaming in a few days :)

I had an old Asus P4B motherboard, with a PIV 2.2G CPU. I kept the Antec tower case, Sony DVD player and Sony DVD burner, everything else is new.

MB - Asus P5NSLI
CPU - Intel Pentium D 940
RAM - 2 GB OCZ PC2 5400
HD - Seagate 500GB SATA internals (2 of them)
PS - Ultra 500W
Video - NVidia GeForce 8500 GT, 512M, PCI-E
OS - Windos XP Pro

I wasn't trying to build a real power machine, just one that would work fine with all my games (which this is well capable of). For under $1000, I'm happy.

MB - Asus P5NSLI - Get a better motherboard that supports SLI and the Quad Core CPU while having tons of overclock features and plenty of SATA ports with built in RAID support
CPU - Intel Pentium D 940 - Upgrade to Quad Core 6800
RAM - 2 GB OCZ PC2 5400 - Upgrade to 8GB PC21066
HD - Seagate 500GB SATA internals (2 of them) - Upgrade to 4x WD Raptors in RAID 0 + 4x 750GB WD drives for storage
PS - Ultra 500W - Upgrade to 1KW PSU
Video - NVidia GeForce 8500 GT, 512M, PCI-E - Upgrade to GeForce 8800Ultra x2 in SLI mode
OS - Windos XP Pro - Upgrade to a 64-bit OS

Look up. Remember the power of your computer is directly proportional to the size of your penis.
