Yeah, go to Control Panel, Administrative Options, Services.

Double click on "Messenger". Stop it and change it to disabled.

Thanks good. On that option I noticed that it states that it is not related to Windows messenger.

Take all the shitty things out of Windows, and the make the few good things even better, and make it free, and you got yourself Linux.

This may be true for the actual OS/Interface/networking code, etc., but as a development platform, it lacks real standards for interfaces, code libraries, and OS-level methodologies. This is why each app has its own look and feel and its own configuration mechanisms. While some people like this, most common computer users cannot deal with this (they need consistency in order to be able to use a computer effectively), and enterprise admins need consistent tool sets and single points of configuration.

Don't get me wrong, I love linux, but it's got a long way to go before it can be a desktop OS. Standard UI/Config/OS Libraries . . . that's the real reason Windows is still king.

I use Linux as a server OS (along with Netware), but haven't found the time to try it as a workstation yet.
