Alright, I just finished watching it, and DAMN, is it long. This edition is only 15 minutes longer than the Fellowship of the Ring, but the Two Towers feels like it's an hour longer. I'm not saying it's bad at all, just long. Definitely take a break when you have to switch DVDs.
Anyways, this edition is much better than the theatrical version. So many more things are fleshed out and it feels much more like the book, which is good for those who have read it. The Merry and Pippin storyline is much better, and you get to see much more of Gollum (which is always a good thing).
The biggest improvement, though, is without a doubt, Faramir. Without ruining it for those who haven't seen it, his character is fleshed out so much more and you really begin to understand his dilemma with his father and the relationship he had with Boromir. I thought he was fine in the theatrical edition even though he wasn't like he was in the books, and granted, he's still not 100% book-Faramir in the Extended Edition, but I like him much more. He reminds me alot of Boromir.
Alright, now to move on to the 7+ hours of bonus material...
