Oh, that must've been back when MTV used to play that thing called "music." I forgot about that.

MTV has become the epitome of the great wasteland that is TV.Originally posted by Harry Canyon

Harry, I'm old enough to remember 3 channels and no cable TV. Hell, I'm old enough to remember when there was only Black and White TV. The first time I showed my daughter a Black and White TV, she asked "why would someone buy one that wasn't color?".

July 20th, 1969. I'm sitting on the floor, glued to the black-and-white TV screen. It's an ugly thing with big rotary dials and buttons. The image is fuzzy, the sound is even worse.
The screen shows a strange contraption, clearly a man-made structure. There's movement. As my mind begins to sort the image out, I can finally make out the silhouette of a man, clad in a bulky white spacesuit. He's talking, and now I can hear it very clearly. He's describing the ground around him.
Then he takes a cautious step away from the structure, and he says "It's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

I recall that as well. I was at my uncle's house in Utah. The picture was so bad that we went into his darkenened basement to get a better view of what was happening.Originally posted by Chacal

I used to love the show, but I think they've departed too much from the original (as hokey and cheesy as it was) for me to be terribly interested. Though the Cylons' new forms are certainly... compelling, I still think I like the old ones better.
This is "Number Six" - one of the new Cylons:

Look as campy as BG appears now to us sci-fi fans back then it rocked! Star Trek (the original and only good one) looked campy at the time but it was the best we could get. Twenty years from now your kids are going to be looking at the movies you guys think are cool and call them campy (LOTR looks so dumb Dad! Spider-Man is so fake!)
I for one will NOT be watching it. The original Cylons rocked and turning them into the T whatever large breasted series pisses me off. Not only that but the peerfect hair duo are now chicks? What a load of crap.
I hope Balthazar is able to kill them all and end this series on episode 1.
At least they aren't remaking Logan's run. Now THAT was campy!

Holy Cow, that's as stupid as putting bimbos in consumer show booths to boost sales. Reminds me of Seven of Nine in ST:Voyager, who was so clearly inserted to boost ratings it was pitiful.
Because I love women, I will NOT watch that show.
