More RAM is bad?

I've been trying to find a reason lately why since I upgraded my mobo from 512MB of ram ( 2x256 ) to 1.5gb ( 2x256, and 2x512 ) that I load BF maps SLOWER than before.

Whatcha think?

MMmmGood,

Not sure, but check out this link from Crucial Ram

I read a review somewhere that more RAM could, in some circumstances slow your computer down. I'm trying to find that article now.

Makes sense to me. I've known this for a while. Just think about it good. The currents are having to flow through much more space to get to all the memory, therefore using more clock cycles and slowing things down. I have a Gig of ram and when running BF I never drop below about 200-300 free RAM. So, basically if you had 1/2 a gig, you only needed another 1/4 Gig or so to get optimum performance. So if the game will use about 500-750 meg of ram you have about that much being unused.

If I were you I'd pull out the 2x256 and see what happens. Do you ever use more than a gig a time anyhow?

I'll try that tonight Xenius and see what happens.

i noticed huge performance increase with load times etc going from 512-1 GIG. There is no need for a client PC gto have more then a GIG right now unless you are doing graphic work, ie: photoshop etc.

You're right, but I learned from experience that a Gig should be sufficient for most graphical work, except maybe 3DSMAX which always can use some extra RAM.
