you don't NEED pci express. As i understand it, motherboards will still have an AGP slot. The transition from AGP to PCI will take years, so don't worry about buying an AGP card. AGP will still be here for a long, long time. heck, the original PCI slot is still being used by some people for video

I fell off the internet for awhile (Moved to Tampa, and have been battling with Verizon over DSL service for almost 2 weeks now, only to finally determine that I CAN'T get DSL, even though they said I could.....So RR hooked up today, I'll be back. Shockwave--I would get the magazine I referenced. PCI Express will be the card because it allows game developers to do what they need to do to make a game compatible on any level. Currently when a game is designed they can't go balls to the walls because of the different technologies out there. If everyone had a 9800pro I can guarantee that the games being developed would be much more cutting edge than they are now. PCI express allows game developers to design a game that will work on a fifty dollar card or a five hundred dollar card. You can see the price reductions now on ATI/NVIDIA higher end cards like the 9800 series. You will be mistaken if you think that ATI or NVIDIA will manufacture two lines of cards (agp/PCI) Won't happen. If you look at the first message in the thread he felt the 9800 has been around for awhile. It has and you can bet you will not see another AGP line from ATI. They'll just roll out another boost to the XT cards if possible. DDR2 - T socket mobo's - BTX form factors-2004 is going to be big for changes. I would still recommend getting a 9800pro for the price that it is selling at now but if you always have to have cutting edge I would wait. But know way should anyone purchasing a card go less than a 9800pro right now. Price is to good and the technology will get you through the next upgrade curve for a bit.
