Here is an article I found to be very interesting. I feel that this is 100% accurate, at least with me it is.
"The psychological benefits of regular exercise can be as significant as the physical. Some, such as better self-esteem, come as an indirect result of exercise and are fairly subjective.
Others are a direct consequence of chemical activity triggered by physical exertion - for example, people suffering from depression or anxiety are often ‘prescribed’ exercise. Brain chemicals released during exercise, such as serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and endorphins, are known to have strong effects on mood, helping reduce feelings of anxiety, stress and depression, while also helping to strengthen your immune system.
Twenty different types of endorphin have been discovered in the nervous system, and the beta-endorphins secreted during exercise have the most powerful effect. Sometimes described as 'runners high', the release of beta-endorphins reduces pain (the reason why running becomes easier after about 20 minutes) and stimulates feelings of euphoria - which is why so many people feel invigorated and enthusiastic after exercise.
Other psychological side effects of exercise include:
Improved self-esteem and greater sense of self-reliance and self-confidence
Improved mental alertness, perception and information processing
Increased perceptions of acceptance by others
Decreased overall feelings of stress and tension
Reduced frustration with daily problems, and a more constructive response to disappointments and failures
These psychological benefits can be just as important as the more obvious physical ones; most of us exercise in the first place because we are unhappy about something, whether it is that spare tyre, worries about general health, or just being sick of feeling tired and unfit.
If you are feeling like a couch potato, or you are finding stress and worry is becoming a problem, get out there and exercise! The hardest part by far is that initial step, when it can feel like exercise is the last thing in the world that will cheer you up: try to remember that exercise is one of the very best ways do do just that."
Last week as corny as it sounds I was really down and overwhelmed with everything happening in my life. The other night I went out and played frisbee for an hour and a half. Later that night I felt so happy and basically had no care in the world. Just do what the article says, when your down and you feel like the last thing you want to do is excercise or go out, just do it. The benefits are awesome haha. Also, I act like an ass hole when I dont excercise, but when I do Im the nicest guy. Its really wierd.
Anyways, thought some of you would enjoy this.

It depends on how many reps you do. Rubbing three out a day will keep you healthy, wealthy and wise.
I think the other night I experienced the 'runner's high' they mentioned in the article. I played sports as a kid, and football one year in high school. But that was a few years ago, and I havent been active much. So that might be why it affects me more now. I thought the article was interesting cause Im a health nut sometimes,

i ran around the neighborhood the other night... and my legs are still sore that was 3 nights ago.. lol but when i was out skateboarding after we went back in id always feel better? and i dont know if its the same thing but after maybe 30 mins of skating around just ollieing and warming up then trying bigger things like 8 stairs when you fell it didnt hurt near as bad as just going straight too it plus i landed it alot faster? maybe that was just luck though lol

maybe the endorphins helped with the pain....but I could be wrong. I know one of the chemicals is a natural pain killer, like when you get a tattoo I think the endorphins help with the pain. someone know exactly what it is?

Nothing better than exercise to help your mental well-being. Besides, when you feel good about the way you look, you have a better outlook on life...not that looks are everything...

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in the boat and drink beer all day...
I better exercise alot then.Originally posted by SHWoff
