Super Bowl commercials

Postby cavalierlwt » Sun Feb 05, 2006 11:36 pm

Pretty lame this year.
I think the ones I liked best was the "revolving wall refrigerator" and first "I work with monkeys" one.

If the sponsors weren't so afraid of offending the fundies, commercials would be better.

There was definitely a backlash. Janet Jackson's boob was inappropriate for SuperBowl, but not worthy the length and depth of the outcry. To me, the worst thing last year were Erectile Dysfunction pill commercials (Viagra etc). This year, fear pretty much took over. I also had to laugh at what US automakers pushed during the SB vs what Japanese auto makers pushed: We pushed SUVs, they pushed hybrids. Smart thinking guys, glad see you are earning your multimillion dollar bonuses

I don't know. I don't know if he means it's not appearing correctly (mine or someone elses) or if the content is distasteful--which, if he's referring to mine, I would have to agree. I don't much like the picture, but I like the quote and couldn't think of a better pic to go with it (I am completely devoid of creativity)

Someone else pointed this out, this year's commercials replaced sex with violence

Bear mauls a guy in one commercial
Guy kicks little dinosaur and gets stomped by big dinosaur in the fedex one
Guy put a big hit on girl (and girl returns favor later) in another beer commercial.
Guy belts his co-worker in the head with cell phone (crime deterrent)

The H3 commercial was an old one, probably a year old.
My favorite was the Bud Light commercial where the guy hid Bud Lights throughout the office and everyone was destroying the office to get some.
