Good place to get a new PC?
Well I am gonna have to break down and get a new PC. My video card just crapped out and I had to put a Ge Force FX 5500 back in.
I don't see the point in buying a new 6800 or something just to keep this piece of shit playing games on low/med.
So does anyone know a good place to get a PC? I am gonna finance it since that is the only way I can afford one right now. So a place that is good for that would help. I have bought a Gateway and a Dell and I don't wanna go down that road again.

Re: Good place to get a new PC?
if you were up here I'd suggest Bureau en gros, Future shop, or Best Buy for the package deals. All the computers I've gotten from them have worked well, though the next one I get I'm going to try and build myself.
I guess the equivalent to those stores are Staples, Circuit city, and Best buy. Other then that I have no idea.

Well I am looking for a place where I can "build my own" they put it together and and ship it to me. Something like Alienware but maybe not that hardcore. Just wondering if anyone has used a good company that does this.

Nope didn't google. Friend of mine gave me the site to look at. Neither one of us bought anything. He built his own computer from newegg, I myself went and got one from dell. So I don't really know about the reputation. I'd search around and even google them for reviews. Just throwing out suggestions. Knew of a site that might intersest you. All the others were already said. Sorry if any of this didn't help.

No it helps. I still gotta check a local place but I am not sure if the locals have even seen a color TV let alone a PC.

LOL. Finally getting a new computer. Seeing that you get a new computer every 10 years or so, I would go all out and get something really good. Just go into Best Buy or Circuit City and just say give me the best computer you have. Its as easy as that! No hassels. Apply for one of their credit cards and they give you money off and also get a rewards card and you will probably be able to get a new game with the reward points!

I'd go for a local shop if they have a resident nerd that will listen to your needs. Big chains clerks might try to sell you whatever brings them the biggest commission or whatever is cluttering up their shelf space. You want a game machine, not my old aunt's machine.

They have a quad-core PC out at Circuit City for sale (HP M8120N for 1099.99 USD). You can push them into getting 18 months of no interest if you sign up for their card. Act like you're actually interested in their extended warranty and they will jump through some hoops for you.

Re: Good place to get a new PC?
Not into the "DIY" brand, Tony? I always recommend building your own. Mine is in a constant state of "what can my next upgrade be" I have had the same case for 5 years now, a monster Antec 1040. It has seen no less then 4 motherboards, 6 hard drives and 4 video cards.
You learn a lot when you build your own. There are a lot of DIY guides out there. I buy most of my parts from Newegg with a few from TigerDirect after looking up professional reviews and customer reviews.
A year and a half ago, my stepson wanted me to build a computer for him . I recommended a set of parts and a honking AeroCool case. He ordered the parts. I set up the entire kit of parts on the kitchen table and told him to build it himself. I just coached. The only thing I did was put the CPU into the socket after greasing it and help with the Windows install. From parts on the table to Windows XP Pro installed-3.25 hours (no alcohol involved)
(Although I could see a bunch of ECGN Geeks having to get on Vent and having to coach Tony via Webcam)
