My kind of thread!!! About time. Just finished a H. Upmann. Onyx reserve is the best I had in a year or so. I also useJRcigars.com.

Wasn't to happy with the CAO extremes.

I have a Montecristo white I am saving for after my next softball game. 2-0 and when we get 3 we'll have more wins than we had all last season.

My suggestion for the guy whose not sure what to smoke. Try the samplers and or the five packs that certain sites sell. Or just buy one smoke at a time from your local cigar shop. This way you don't buy a box you don't enjoy. Also when getting a humidor, stick with a digital hygrometer and not the analogs. Analogs have to much of a variance of actuall humidity.

If you don't mind infused cigars. Acid has a Atom maduro that ranked pretty high with me. I give it a grade right under the Onyx reserve which once again is a great tasting cigar.

If you didn't care for the CAO Extreme, try the CAO gold double corona....very good cigar....

I am lucky enough to have a place that can get me "special" cigars. I have a couple of humidors, currently packed with mostly habanos.....Upmann Special Reserve, Bolivar torpedos, Sancho Panzo torps (my personal fav).

For domestic, I highly recommend this little cigar roller from the keys.

They have had some of the best, most consistent cigars I have had. Their Maduro was rated one of the best by cigar afficianado. Very reasonalbe too, only like $5 a cigar

From a few years ago but here's the qoute on the maduro's from their web site...

Some of the best workmanship you'll find, and they are having an HUGE sale atm......I payed 2x what they are now for each one (I have 2 of the Mastercraft Classic Humidors and one of the Kilauea Classic Humidors).

For those looking at getting a quality humidor (dont worry..you dont have to pay out the ass)....here are things to look for in the design.

undertuck seals, quadrant hinges if you prefer a box style, dense, calibrated seasoned spanish cedar (this allows your tobacco to age properly), air pass trays, a very good quality transparent finish to let the wood grain show through and nice hardware.

Alot of humidors you have seen, or WILL see are made by companies that also use them as jewelry boxes ect.....you really need to go with a quality craftmanship company like Havana, or Elie Bleu that make them specifically for cigars.

Some starter kits from accomplished and upstanding places like http://www.JRcigars.com are good for the casual smoker, or if you remove them quite often and dont age any of them. But I beleive in getting quality. They really aren't expensive. You can get a very good one from havana for $150 or less that will hold over 100 cigars.

Hope this helps any of you that are just starting, or just curious.
