I'm BAAAACK!
So I up and disappeared last december without a peep.
Had I fallen into a tear in the universe, only to emerge in a mirror "evil" universe? Or was I now using my newfound super-powers to rid the world of Menudo cover-bands?
If only it was so simple. Many of you guys will remember I spoke of volunteer work I did in South America for a year. Well, all of a sudden last december, I get a call from my good friend Wendy who works at VSO Canada, a volunteer placement agency.
She had a choice assignment for me, if I was up to it. Part of the program I had started when I was originally down there was to get used PC's donated from north american businesses. We would take those PC's and distribute them to the schools around Guyana so the children would grow up with at least a little computer knowledge. Many of the kids these days don't choose to stay in their family village or town - they want to move to the bigger cities like Gerogetown, or even to Canada or the US. With the PC's, they at least were able to get their foot in the proverbial door of the north american job industry.
Anyways, that portion of the program had really skyrocketed, but it had hit a kink. Several of the businesses for some reason though they had been scammed, and we were selling off the PC's for cash. Of course I thought that was bullshit, but VSO Canada wanted me to go down and investigate the program, and meet with some reps from the companies that donated PC's.
Cut to a couple months later and I'm still down in Guyana. It turns out a couple of native guyanese that were working for this program had been in fact selling some the PC's for cash. They were dealt with, the company reps were appeased, and all seemed to be in order.
Then I get an offer from several of the schools in Annai, a southern city on the Rupununi planes. They had received around two dozen PC's, but had no one to teach the children how to use them. They contracted me for several months of teaching, an offer I couldn't refuse.
That brings me to why I never posted after I disappeared. Annai has no phone service, and barely has power, so there was no way I was going to be able to explain my disappearance on this message board and a few others. I even had a chance to get online on the one trip I made into Georgetown, but fate acted against me and I was never able to lay my hands on an internet enabled PC.
Aaaaaaanyways, I'm back now, just picked up BF: Vietnam, and I'm looking forward to gaming with you reprobates again! So, what can you guys tell me? Anything new? Any major forum drama while I was gone? Any births, deaths? How's BF:V faring as a game?

I don't really know ya. I do know you work wonders in photoshop/animmation, better than I can do. Nice sig and avatar btw
.
Anyways welcome back, hope you enjoeyed yourself there and made some great memories.
As for news here, you'll soon learn most of us are waiting for a patch for BF:V and there are still smacktards like always. I haven't actually played in weeks with school and work, so maybe the others can better explain. Only 40 player slots available on the server for now unless they tweaked the server some more and raised the ammount.

Indeed, I'm sure my BF skills have atrophied to the point of being useless.
I've been banging away in a hosted local game just trying to get the hang of the new game mechanics, particularly the tricky choppers.
And can anyone tell me what the hell happened to the audio of this game. BF1942 was bad enough, BFV sounds less like war and more like a pillowfight at a slumber party. The first time I threw a grenade, I was like "Wow, they added duds to the grenade mix!". Then I threw another, and another, only to realize those anemic little "PAFF" noise were supposed to be the grenades going off. The tank rounds fare little better.
If any game cried out for Prowlinger's work, this is it.

hey welcome back bingham... that's some mighty fine volunteer work ur doing there. Must be a whole new experience altogether especially in a place like that down there...
Don't jump on the bandwagon with BF: V just yet, a lot of us who went to BF: V have switched back to BF42...and we're awaiting the first patch for it...
As for dramas, well we had a whole drama thing with a clan, YaDad's son plays with us now too... Buli gave birth to a child called spaminator, Harry ran over one of doomfarer's sheep with his wheel chair, all is not well in the barn...
