Here are the fights from that night as listed in the "Fight Card" section of "The Orange and Black", one of the better Flyers fan sites.
http://www.orangeandblack.net/200304/fightcard.asp
Just page down to the bottom to 3/5/04. They have most of the fights a draw with 2 wins a piece.
I hear what you are saying about watching dudes that don't normally fight. That is cool too.
In any case, that was a great game!

Lol...great thread...back to the topic, I was at the Draft and had VIP seats to boot. The room where the new draftees had their pictures taken with their families was across the hall from our seats so I just hung out in the hall way and got to see all the first rounders come by. I was very glad to see a large turnout...more people showed up for a rainy draft than sometimes come to the Canes games. Anywho, Meathad is right..we Ranger fans are never wrong
But our management often is, like their decision to draft yet another goalie and ignore the holes on defense...oh well...one more year out of the playoffs won't kill us I guess.

Your definetly right Meathead, but i also follow the NHL very vidly (i watched all but 2 televised playoff games), and i do know that Ottawa lost the fight overall. Yahoo Sports and ESPN headlines both read "Broad Street Bullies are back, pummel Sens"

since none of those guys were goons, like watching a Jagr fight a Kariya, etc.
PUH-LEASE! Kariya a goon? The dude should be in Olympic figure skating where no violence looms. He is the biggest "finesse" skater out there (BTW when I just used "finesse" I meant pansy ass wimp)
And to Sewer (who's team should be Up Nord dere!)

No worries there bro. Everyone will have at least one season to get better in the WHA.
Players should go for the NFL model. At least 57% of all revenue generated goes to players and there is a SALARY cap. Revenue share and a salary cap and we will stop seeing bullshit like Good CANADIAN hockey teams moving to the Sunbelt in the US where THEY DON'T DESERVE HOCKEY!
Fast and simple rule for hockey. Your pond in your backyard doesn't freeze and allow you some nice virgin ice to play on? NO HOCKEY TEAM FOR YOU!
Seriously I honestly believe one of the things that hampers hockey is its business model. Its sucks almost as bad (but nothing can actually suck that bad except) the MLB. Worst business model in pro sports and it shows! Baseball is dying a stinky rotten death because its business model sucks!
Hockey should look at what the NFL has done to become an effective business (note I said business and not a sport) and Hockey will only get better. I gave up on baseball when they had their strike in the early 90's. Boy let me tell you as a union member my heart was out there for those guys who made an average of 1.45 million a year! Me at the 14.15 an hour could really appreciate where they came from!
Anywho enough ranting. My Wild had a great draft! Too bad I won't be able to see them til the '05-'06 season:(
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." ... Benjamin Franklin
i actually look forward to see how the avs are taken over by Joel Quenville... the dude rocked in STL, we shouldn't have fired him and replaced him w/ a clone. He's walking into a trap if he thinks abeschier can actually make the playoffs... they couldn't do it w/ selanne and kariya and now theres talk of Foresberg going to leave the nhl... things are lookin' strange in Colorado.
As for the Blues, we have our own problems... should rename the team to the Chiefs and bring back the Hansons and Killer Carson. You know "goon it up" for us.
Slapshot rules.

ummm.. note my sarcasm. That was my point. Most of the fights that night were between guys who NEVER fight. Hence my post that it was "like" watching Jagr fight Kariya.

Well, if something doesn't go down between the players union and the owners, we better get used to watching the inline skating league (is that still around?).
Go Bullfrogs !! LOL

I think his intent was to say that a Kariya v. Jager fight was a perfect example of a non-goon fight...

Well, as a life long resident of NC, and a hockey fan since I was 4 years old, I have to completely disagree with that statement. Just because we don't have Ice doesn't mean we aren't good hocky fans...I've been to games in traditional places like Philly and in places like Nashville and Raleigh...the fans were just as enthusiastic here as there. Admittedly, there is a learning curve because many people are learning the game, but that's how the NHL is going to expand its fan base. The current business model is antiquated, and cannot work. That doesn't mean the solution is to take teams from the south. Yes, the southern expansion was probably too fast, and some teams might need to go but not all of them.

No, a perfect non good fight would have been
Gretsky and Liemux (not claude, Mario)
Think Fox can arrange to have that on in their next Tanya Harding showcase?
Didn't i hear something about some PPV about a hockey brawl, past and present. they skate onto the ice and drop the glove and start pounding?

Mario Lemeuix got into like a half dozen fights in his career, i believe, so he isn't exactly the worst fighter, I'd put Jagr in his place.
Gaborik, Kovalchuck, Nash all thrive because they don't have a very good team, and they need to play a lot of offense and score goals or their team won't win any games. That is why in places like Philadelphia where we have so many players that once scored 35+ goals, don't score more than 30. Because the workload of offense is divided evenly. If you added Kovalchuck/Gaborik/Nash to hte Flyers right now, next season they would be only at about 25-30 goals instead of 50 like Kovalchuck and Nash did last season.
